Patrick Bertoletti made his personal new record and won the 2024 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest by eating 58 hot dogs and buns within 10 minutes.

NEW YORK, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The annual hot dog eating contest on Coney Island of New York City, U.S. state of New York, concluded on Thursday with a brand-new champion in the men's contest but less impressive results.

Patrick Bertoletti, 26, made his personal new record and won the 2024 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest by eating 58 hot dogs and buns within 10 minutes.

Joey Chestnut, who won the highest title for the 16th time by consuming 62 hot dogs and buns in 2023, was banned from this year's contest last month due to contractual dispute with Major League Eating, the event's organizer.

Chestnut signed an endorsement deal with Impossible Foods, a rival player which offers vegan hot dogs.

Notably, Chestnut holds the record of wolfing down 76 hot dogs and buns within 10 minutes in 2021.

In the women's category, Miki Sudo, 38, won her 10th title, setting a new record by downing 51 hot dogs and buns.

The yearly contest continued to draw the interest of many people, though some fans were upset about Chestnut's absence this year. ■
