NAGAON, India, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Fields in India's northeastern state of Assam were adorned with golden pods of paddy during the harvest season, and Nagaon farmers worked their way to reap and process the crop after months of hard work.
Rice is the most significant crop in Assam, occupying a remarkable planted area of 2.54 million hectares and accounting for about 96 percent of the state's entire production of cereal grains.
