TIANJIN, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- A "green fleet" consisting of four fully electric-powered harbor tugboats set sail from a port in north China's Tianjin on Wednesday.

These four tugboats form the largest fleet of their kind in northern China, which will primarily assist various vessels with port entry, exit, docking, and undocking within Tianjin Port waters.

Unlike conventional tugboats, the electric ones operate with zero exhaust emissions and low noise. Each of them boasts 5,400-horsepower, advanced electric motors as well as intelligent control systems, which enable higher operational efficiency at much reduced costs.
