Three killed in suffocation incident at biopharmaceutical company in east China

NANCHANG, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- A suffocation incident occurred at a biopharmaceutical company in Jinxian County, east China's Jiangxi Province, at around 10:25 p.m. on Wednesday, resulting in three deaths despite rescue efforts, local authorities said on Thursday evening.

Three other individuals were hospitalized and are currently in stable condition, according to the local emergency management bureau.

Following the incident, local authorities immediately activated an emergency plan and organized personnel to carry out on-site management, medical treatment for the injured, and follow-up arrangements.

An investigation into the cause and circumstances of the accident is currently underway. ■
