Amid rising global temperatures and increasingly severe climate disasters, the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) opened on Monday in Belem, Brazil with the goal of placing climate action back at the center of international priorities.
The two-week meeting comes at a pivotal moment as growing unilateral tendencies threaten to undermine collective efforts to confront a borderless crisis. It also marks the first such gathering since the U.S. administration once again withdrew from the Paris Agreement, which was adopted a decade ago.
U.S. Senate passes bipartisan spending package to end longest gov't shutdown
The U.S. Senate on Monday night passed a bipartisan spending package in a bid to end the longest government shutdown, which has entered its 41st day and has brought mounting consequences for Americans.
This came after the upper chamber voted 60-40 in a key procedural vote to move forward with the spending package on Sunday night. Eight Democrats joined Republicans to advance the measure.
U.S. infant formula recall expanded amid widening infant botulism outbreak
The recall of ByHeart Whole Nutrition infant formula in the United States has been expanded to include all products, as infant botulism cases continued to rise across multiple states, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
As of Monday, 15 infants with suspected or confirmed infant botulism had been reported from 12 states, according to an update from the CDC's official website, while laboratory confirmation is still underway for several cases.
12 killed in suicide blast outside courts in Pakistani capital
At least 12 people were killed and 27 others injured on Tuesday afternoon in a suicide blast outside the district courts in Pakistan's capital Islamabad, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi told local media.
Naqvi said at the explosion site that a suicide bomber exploded his explosive-laden jacket in front of the Judicial Complex, which houses several district courts.
20 bodies recovered near Gaza City clinic: civil defense
Gaza's Civil Defense said Tuesday that its teams recovered 20 bodies from the area of the Sheikh Radwan Clinic in Gaza City.
It said in a press statement that the bodies were found buried randomly within the clinic's perimeter, and most of them are unidentified. The statement added that search operations are continuing for others reported missing in the area.
China's NEV output, sales surge in first 10 months of 2025
China's new energy vehicle (NEV) sector posted strong growth in production and sales in the first 10 months of 2025, according to industry data released Tuesday.
NEV production jumped 33.1 percent year on year to nearly 13.02 million units during the first 10 months, according to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.■
