Chinese shares close lower Wednesday
BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.07 percent to 4,000.14 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.36 percent lower at 13,240.62 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.95 trillion yuan (about 275.3 billion U.S. dollars) -- down from 1.99 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to ceramics, oil and textiles led the gains, while those related to electrical appliances, cement and power equipment suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.39 percent to close at 3,122.03 points on Wednesday. ■
