CAIRO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Wednesday approved the date of opening the Grand Egyptian Museum for November 1, according to the government's statement.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has instructed relevant ministries and authorities to prepare for an opening ceremony, which is expected to feature a special official presence from around the world, the statement said.

The opening of the museum was originally scheduled for July 3, but was postponed due to the military conflicts between Israel and Iran.

Located near the iconic Giza pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum spans nearly 500,000 square meters.
