DHAKA, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- A new book titled "China in the eyes of Bangladesh's new generation" was launched in Dhaka on Thursday, containing 19 articles written by 22 Bangladeshi authors.

The book launching ceremony was held at Bangladesh's top leading private North South University (NSU) with hundreds of dignitaries including teachers, students and officials from the NSU, the Chinese embassy in Dhaka and many leading Bangladeshi educational institutions.

The book, written in Bengali, was edited by Ma Xiaoyan and Bulbul Ashraf Siddiqi, the Chinese and the Bangladeshi directors of the North South University's Confucius Institute.

At the ceremony, it was unveiled by Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of the NSU, alongside Mahbub Morshed, chief editor of the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), the national news agency of Bangladesh, and Li Shaopeng, cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh.

Speaking at the ceremony, NSU's VC Chowdhury said China is a very cooperative country, both with its neighbors and with the world.

This has created great opportunities for people globally, especially for neighboring countries like Bangladesh, he said.

He said the friendship between China and Bangladesh is long-lasting and will continue to be strong. "We believe this relationship will become even stronger in the future. This is because China always includes Bangladesh in its events, cultural exchanges, and academic programs."

For his part, Li said that twenty-two young Bangladeshis wrote this book with great feeling and the book shows how deeply this new generation understands Chinese culture and dialogue between our civilizations.

Li said that China is now focusing on high-quality growth, innovation, and developing skilled people. "This creates new opportunities for partnership with countries like Bangladesh," he said, "We welcome more friends from Bangladesh to learn about China."■
