BEIJING, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang called for enhanced practical cooperation on multiple fronts when he met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide in Beijing on Tuesday.

Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said that the people of China and Norway enjoy a traditional friendship, and that bilateral relations have maintained healthy, stable development. The two countries' leaders reached an important consensus on advancing ties during their meeting last year, he added.

He went on to note that the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, which outlined the blueprint for China's development over the next five years, will provide more opportunities for China-Norway cooperation. He urged deepened political mutual trust, strengthened strategic communication, and enhanced cooperation in such fields as the economy, trade, investment, green transformation and climate change response.

Speaking highly of the remarkable achievements China has made in green transformation and other areas, Eide said Norway is firm in adhering to the one-China policy, adding that the country is willing to improve bilateral ties and bring cooperation to new heights. ■
