On one of her most recent visits, to local organisation Justice For Girls in Downtown Vancouver, Markle was presented with a whale tail pendant in 18-carat gold accented with a single diamond. The piece was made by Indigenous Canadian artist Hollie Bartlett. Photos of Markle radiating in the necklace have sparked an interest in the jeweller's designs and indigenous art.
The whale tail is a traditional motif in Northwest Coast First Nations art.

This isn't the first time the former actress has been spotted in jewellery by Canadian designers. Before marrying Prince Harry, she spent years living in Toronto on the set of TV series Suits; during this time, she amassed a collection of Canadian-designed jewellery.
Her favourite includes creations from Birks, a century-old jeweller with roots in Montreal, Quebec. For those unfamiliar with the brand, think the Canadian version of Tiffany & Co. " designs are classic, clean and elegant.
It would seem the former actress has a thing for the brand's earrings.

One of her favourite pairs is the Snowflake Snowstorm diamond earrings. She also owns a pair of Plaisirs de Birks opal earrings from the jeweller, which she wore in her official engagement photo.
