蝴蝶、飛蛾等昆蟲壽命短暫，牠們的脆弱與人的生命也一般無異，在浩瀚的宇宙中是如斯渺小，但其美麗多姿、消逝結束總會震撼人心。標本藝術家Fiona Parkinson深受觸動，不滿足於如實記錄自然之美，於是用昆蟲標本轉化為藝術品，這個Space Oddity（與大衛·寶兒的歌曲《太空怪談》同名！）的系列就是從牠們身上鏤空出多個星球，組成瑰麗恆久的星空，以此突出剎那、永恆的對比。

當然她亦知道這樣處理標本的方法別具爭議，故時常思考關於標本採集、製作的倫理問題。她不在野外私自收集，而只向負責任的保育計劃取得標本。這些機構一般會培植當地原生物種擴大該類昆蟲在當地的族群，亦會提供樣本予研究及教育用途。這些昆蟲在這些實驗室裡一般亦活得比野外長久，待它們自然死亡才會風乾作標本用途。
