XINING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Environmental protection workers are carrying out an investigation in the source region of the Yangtze River in Sanjiangyuan National Park.
This is the first overall ecological environment monitoring in the region. Researchers will collect and analyze samples from air, soil, ice and snow.
Sanjiangyuan National Park, located in northwest China's Qinghai Province, is one of the first national parks officially established in China.
Known as the "water tower of China," it is home to the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers.
The ecological system in the park has been steadily improving in recent years, making it a habitat of an increasing number of wildlife.
