BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend the ninth Trilateral Summit Meeting among China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) in Seoul from May 26 to 27, foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin announced on Thursday.
Premier Li, together with the leaders of Japan and the ROK, will attend key events including the trilateral summit meeting and the China-Japan-ROK business summit where they will exchange views on trilateral cooperation, Wang told a daily news briefing.
Wang said that against the backdrop of complex changes in the international and regional landscape, the Chinese side hopes that this meeting will inject new vitality into trilateral cooperation and better achieve mutually beneficial and win-win results among the three countries.
China is willing to work with Japan and the ROK to implement important common understandings such as the Trilateral Cooperation Vision for the Next Decade, deepen cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, science and technology, and culture, promote regional economic integration in East Asia, and contribute to the peace, stability, and prosperity of the region and the world, said the spokesperson.
Wang noted that China, Japan and the ROK, as neighboring countries and major economies in Asia and the world, initiated trilateral cooperation during the process of jointly addressing the Asian financial crisis.
Over the past 25 years since the launch of the China-Japan-ROK cooperation, a cooperative framework centered around the summit meeting and supported by ministerial meetings, senior officials' meetings, and over 70 working-level mechanisms has gradually been established, he said. ■
