BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President of the Federated States of Micronesia Wesley W. Simina will pay a state visit to China from April 5 to 12, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Wednesday.

At a daily press briefing, spokesperson Wang Wenbin said that this will be President Simina's first state visit to China since taking office. During this visit, the leaders of the two countries will have an in-depth exchange of views on the development of bilateral ties and issues of common interest.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Micronesia 35 years ago, bilateral relations have made substantial progress with fruitful practical cooperation in various fields, benefiting the two peoples and promoting regional peace, stability and development, Wang noted.

China is willing to work with Micronesia to take this visit as an opportunity to enhance political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, expand people-to-people exchanges, and further push forward bilateral relations, Wang said. ■
