Interior design goes way beyond space planning. In this 842 square foot residence in Wong Chuk Hang, Stay Living’s design team went the extra mile in every detail, creating a space where the homeowners can kick back and enjoy life to the fullest.

The homeowners are globetrotters with treasures from every corner of the world, but have a special penchant for Chinese hanging paintings and decorations. For their living space, they wanted a minimalist European style that complemented their eclectic taste.

“We elevated the design by incorporating subtle elements like wooden trimmings in the living room. In terms of furniture, we have carefully chosen pieces with sleek and minimalist lines to create a modern European ambience."

When it comes to the colour co-ordination, the living room embraces a natural and soothing ambience with its predominant use of white and light wood tones. Although one wall in the living and dining area is fully covered by storage cabinets, the incorporation of distinct finishes and the curved transition between the cabinets introduces a minimalist, yet dynamic touch. This design approach makes it look far more interesting, creating a visually rich layering effect.

To cater to the homeowners’ need for generous storage space, two sets of large cabinets were built into the living and dining room. However, to prevent a congested ambience, the sides of the cabinets flanking the entrance were thoughtfully designed with concave curved shapes. This not only enhances the spaciousness of the entrance, but also incorporates European design elements.

As for the bedrooms, after undergoing layout changes, the partition wall of a small room was taken down to expand the master bedroom and create a walk-in closet. To optimise the functionality, double-sided cabinets were employed to separate and organise the storage features. This not only significantly enhanced the storage capacity, but also allowed for greater flexibility.

The headboard features wallpaper showcasing a natural pattern, drawing attention as a prominent visual element. To prevent the room from feeling excessively dark and sombre, rich wood finishes were incorporated, striking a balance. To maintain the minimalist European style and ensure colour co-ordination, a sleek white double-folded door was added, separating the sleeping area from the walk-in closet. This spacious and cosy living room offers more than enough space for the couple who owns it.

“Our goal was to not only design and adjust the layout according to the homeowners’ needs, but to also create a comfortable and enjoyable living environment, enabling them to fully appreciate the joy of spending quality time together at home,” Chan said.
