JAKARTA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's national roads are ready for Eid travelers, said Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, referring to the annual exodus when urbanites return to their hometowns to spend the holiday with their relatives.

"Our 47,603 km long non-toll national roads are ready, and as of today 94.2 percent of them are stable," said Hadimuljono in a hearing with the People's Representative Council in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Damaged roads have been repaired, including four roads in Central Java damaged due to flooding, and the road connecting Sukabumi and Bogor that was closed due to landslides.

Hadimuljono also ensured that other facilities such as bridges were ready for travelers to pass through, while repairs to the remaining roads continued.

The Transportation Ministry projects that 193.6 million people, 71.7 percent of Indonesia's population, will travel home during the Eid Al-Fitr period, an increase compared to last year's 123.8 million people or 45.8 percent of the population. ■
