BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met with Kuwaiti ambassador to China Jasem Ibrahem Al-Najem in Beijing on Friday, exchanging views on promoting media cooperation between the two countries.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah have pointed out the direction for the development of the China-Kuwait strategic partnership, Fu said, stressing that Xinhua stands ready to work with Kuwaiti media organizations to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two countries' leaders.
Fu called on the two sides to elevate exchanges of information and personnel, provide more coverage on China-Kuwait friendship and the joint construction of the Belt and Road, in order to further enhance mutual understanding and trust.
Xinhua is looking forward to strengthening cooperation with Kuwaiti media and think tanks under the framework of the World Media Summit and the Initiators Council of the Belt and Road Studies Network, Fu said.
China and Kuwait have enjoyed a time-honored friendship, Jasem said, stressing that China is an important partner of Kuwait in its course of development.
Kuwait fully supports the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi, and firmly adheres to the one-China principle, said Jasem.
The ambassador said that the Kuwaiti embassy is looking forward to enhancing exchanges with Xinhua to promote cooperation in various fields between the two countries, including media cooperation. ■
