HARARE, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to China's Taiwan violated the one-China principle, said Zimbabwean government spokeswoman Monica Mutsvangwa in a recent statement, calling on Washington to be "true and honest" to the one-China principle, and stop stoking and fanning separatist tendencies.

In the statement released on Wednesday, Mutsvangwa, who also serves as the Zimbabwean information minister, said it is internationally recognized that there is only one China and Taiwan is an integral part of it.

The one-China principle is the political foundation of the China-U.S. relations, said the statement, adding that conducts that violate the one-China principle "will inevitably lead to tension … between the two leading economies of the world."

Calling Zimbabwe "a long time friend that stands by Beijing," the statement noted that the country recognizes only one China, and firmly opposes any action or attempt that violates the one-China principle.

Zimbabwe's ruling ZANU-PF party has also issued a statement to reaffirm its support to the one-China principle. ■
