TEHRAN, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran's chief nuclear negotiator will travel soon to Doha to negotiate the lifting of sanctions against Iran, Tasnim News Agency reported Monday.
"Ali Bagheri Kani will travel to Qatar on Tuesday," an informed source at the Iranian Foreign Ministry was cited by Tasnim as saying.
Robert Malley, the U.S. special envoy for Iran, is expected to arrive in Doha on Monday, according to Western media reports.
Iran and the European Union announced on Saturday that the talks on the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, will be resumed in the coming days.
The nuclear talks began in April 2021 in Vienna but have been suspended since March over political differences between Tehran and Washington.
On Sunday, Iran's Nour News affiliated with the country's Supreme National Security Council reported that the new round of nuclear talks is likely to be held in Qatar's capital Doha. ■
