KABUL, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Forty historical monuments and facilities that were at risk of destruction have been restored in Afghanistan over the past three years, a spokesman for the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Afghan interim government told Xinhua recently.

These historical monuments have been restored in seven provinces, said Khabib Ghufran, adding that a special police security unit has been formed to protect ancient artifacts and historical sites.

According to a report by the ministry, about 8,200 foreigners visited the country's historical monuments in 2024.■
