SANAA, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Eight years of civil war in Yemen have destroyed almost everything in daily life, including hundreds of schools across the country. Now a straw cottage or wood shack is the makeshift classroom for many Yemeni children.
UNICEF estimated that more than 8 million Yemeni children are in need of emergency education assistance. More than 2 million school-age children are now out of school as poverty, conflict, and lack of opportunities disrupt their education, which is double the number of out-of-school children in 2015 when Yemen's civil war started.
