BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhua) -- According to a recent report by The Hill, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has suspended its recently established Disinformation Governance Board.
The board was set up with the stated goal to "coordinate countering misinformation related to homeland security."
However, the launch of the board a month ago drew widespread criticism from even within the American government.
According to a CBS report, U.S. Senator James Lankford complained about the Board, saying "we don't have definitions of what [the Disinformation Governance Board] is. We don't have boundaries on what it does. Why should we not have suspicions on this?"
According to a report by New York Post, hearing the news of the pause, U.S. Representative Mark Green tweeted that "the dystopian 'Disinformation' Governance Board had no place being created in the first place. This 'pause' should be forever."
