XI'AN, May 4 (Xinhua) --As the 46th WorldSkills Competition is to be held in Shanghai in mid-October this year, a number of Gen Z technicians in a vocational college in northwest China's Shaanxi Province are busy practicing their skills to prepare for the competition.

The WorldSkills Competition, known as the "Olympics" for vocational skills, is held every two years.

China has attached great importance to the development of vocational education in recent years.

The country's newly revised Vocational Education Law stipulates that vocational education enjoys the same importance as general education and issues measures to promote the high-quality development of vocational education.

Statistics show that the 143 technical colleges in Shaanxi Province have trained 250,000 skilled workers since 2016, with an employment rate of more than 97 percent.
