面對近乎full force 的Warriors，Nuggets 兩場也有相似的體驗，上半場早段能打成均勢，甚至能佔優- 今場Nuggets 在第二節中段曾領先12分。
可是，進攻選項多得可以用Stephen Curry 做第六人的Warriors，兩場都能在第二節後段追分。今場Warriors 在第二節中段打出16-0的攻勢，半場領先6分 (57-51)。
然後到了第三節，Warriors 的射手陣容配合motion offense 來個整體爆發 (全隊單節命中7球三分，Poole 包辦了其中3球)，瞬間將分差拉闊。
Warriors 在第三節攻入44分- 從Nuggets 的角度來看，本來可控的局勢就似在「彈指之間」被轟破，再看不出勝算。今場Nuggets 以20分之差落敗，Game 1 是16分之差。
– 賽後Nuggets 教練Michael Malone 說這種瞬間被擊潰的茫然挫敗感是球員無法沉着冷靜的因由。
– 如前NBA教練/現役旁述員Stan Van Gundy 說，Nuggets 是西岸8支季後賽球隊之中，最少進攻手段的球隊，唯一能較穩定在matchup 佔優的僅有Jokić 一人。
– Jamal Murray 及Michael Porter Jr. 兩位本是Nuggets 的第二、三進攻選項。缺少了兩人的攻力，Jokić 的球場閱讀再通透，傳球手段再高明，也難有發揮空間。
– 況且Warriors 固然會對MVP中鋒作針對性部署，重點防守之餘還有協防的roaming，盡量收窄Jokić 控、傳、投的空間，讓他每次進攻都舉步維艱- Nikola Jokić 這兩場合共投出45球，僅得51分，進攻效率低下。
– 而且Jokić 光是嘗試在Draymond Green 這個generational防守悍將身上得分，已經要費盡力氣，也難得什麼優勢。最終領2個技術犯規，提早退場。教練Malone 賽後說他理解Jokić 的”frustration”。
– 加上Austin Rivers 在第二節早段受傷 (左側髖部；其後有返場)，有力發動攻勢的選項再減少。
– 季後賽賽事本身壓力已巨大，加上是全國傳播的賽事 (Michael Malone: “No one wants to get their ass kicked on national TV”)，再加上Warriors 現場球迷震耳的呼聲，還有看到對手予取予攜且輕鬆如嬉戲般- Nuggets 的沮喪就在第三節以 DeMarcus Cousins 和Will Barton 的爭拗作爆發點。
– Monte Morris 賽後直言: “They (Warriors) are out there laughing, dancing around. Shit’s embarrassing. We just got to be tougher.” 也說Nuggets 往後怎樣回應Warriors，取決於球隊上下有沒有些許自重自傲 (“if we’ve got any pride…”)
– Malone 說Jokić 作爲球隊重心，須在惡劣狀況下找出應對方式- 即使是感覺沒得到合理裁判。
– Jokić、Monte Morris、Michael Malone 以至Shaquille O’ Neal 及Charles Barkley 在賽後說的重點也是，Nuggets 要團結一致才有可能取勝，分崩離析不可能贏。
– Malone 是這樣說: “Like I said, just find a way to stay together, no matter what’s going on, good or bad, find a way to stay the course, to stay together, coz it’s the only chance, only chance we have, to be competitive in the series. … If we’re fragmented, if we’re breaking off into groups, or individuals, then- we have zero chance of winning a game in this series.”
雖然連敗兩場，Nuggets 教練Malone 仍實際而積極地說，情況壞到透就沒能再壞下去-
“The good thing is when it is horrendous it usually can’t get any more horrendous so there’s only one way for it to go.”
