Northwest China's Min County in Gansu Province is known as the hometown of angelica sinensis (female ginseng) as the medicinal herb is grown on 50 percent of the cultivated land across the county.
The profits generated from the industry account for 60 percent of the local farmers' net income.
In recent years, Min County promotes the industrial upgrading of herbal medicine by establishing cooperatives and trading markets. Growing angelica sinensis thus becomes a pillar industry for the local economy.
