GAZA, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- As the conflict in Gaza grinds on, residents of the besieged enclave are striving to provide education for the younger generation, often relying on makeshift solutions amid the chaos.
According to the United Nations, half of the school-age children in Gaza are now missing their second consecutive year of formal education. A study backed by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) warns that the war could set back education for children and young people in Gaza by up to five years, raising fears of a "lost generation" of Palestinian youth, permanently scarred by trauma and deprivation.
