Japan secured three gold medals for the third consecutive day and China also pocketed one gold as track cycling events of the Hangzhou Asiad concluded on Friday night.
HANGZHOU, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Japan secured three gold medals for the third consecutive day as track cycling events of the Hangzhou Asiad concluded on Friday night.
In the men's Madison final, after an intense battle, the Japanese team of Shunsuke Imamura and Naoki Kokima displayed remarkable coordination and performance, earning them the gold medal with 54 points. South Korea secured the silver, while Kazakhstan took home the bronze.
"Despite falling and getting injured shortly after the race started, I decided to persevere because my teammates had already won gold medals. Our success can be attributed to the rigorous training we underwent, and we are fully prepared for the upcoming Paris Olympics next year," said Imamura.
In the men's Keirin final, China's Zhou Yu clinched the gold with a significant lead, followed by South Korea's Kang Seo-jun with the silver and Malaysia's Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom with the bronze.
In the women's Omnium, Japan's Yumi Kajihara secured the gold with a total of 138 points, while Hong Kong, China's Lee Sze Wing took home the silver with 127 points, and China's Liu Jiali claimed the bronze with 121 points.
In the women's Sprint final, Japan's Mina Sato earned the gold, followed by China's Yuan Liying with the silver, and Japan's Riyu Ohta with the bronze.
Japan emerged as the dominant force in the track cycling, securing 10 of 12 gold medals on offer, leaving the remaining two for China. ■
