BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Seventeen parks across Beijing have staged a total of 61 cultural events for the ongoing seven-day Spring Festival holiday, including flower exhibitions and lion dances, local authorities said Thursday.
At the China National Botanical Garden in Beijing, over 200 species of flowers are displayed at an exhibition featuring the theme of biodiversity conservation, according to the Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau.
Ice-snow entertainment activities are another hit during the holiday.
A total of 25 parks in the Chinese capital, including the Summer Palace and Beihai Park, greet visitors with winter sports such as ice car, ice slide, and snow frisbee, said Peng Qiang, head of the bureau's park administration office.
On Thursday alone, the sixth day of the holiday, Beijing parks received 630,000 visits, with the Summer Palace registered over 75,400 visits, the most of all, said the bureau.
The Chinese Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, fell on Jan. 22 this year. ■
