The latest addition to Vacheron Constantin's Métiers d'Art The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac collection, this Year of the Tiger watch comes in two editions, either in platinum or pink gold. A hefty 40mm case comes with stepped lugs that are strapped onto the wrist using alligator straps that match the Grand Feu enamel dial's colour. Four apertures show the hours, the minutes, the day of the week and the date.

For its latest limited-edition series of exceptional Chinese zodiac watches, Piaget has partnered with Anita Porchet, who specialises in enamel dials. Limited to just 38 pieces worldwide, the master enameller has designed a roaring tiger using the cloisonné technique, a 4,000-year-old decorative art, which involves layering nail-bitingly thin gold ribbons into detailed shapes, which are fired in a piping-hot kiln multiple times.

Dior's latest take on its Dior Grand Soir is an eye-catching Year of the Tiger timepiece, which is limited to just 88 pieces. A well-balanced 36mm stainless-steel and pink-gold case houses a nifty automatic movement while the light-toned dial, adorned with clutches of feathers, is framed with handfuls of dazzling white diamonds.

With only 88 available worldwide, the Chopard LUX XP Urushi Year of the Tiger is hand-decorated by artist Minori Koizumi of the Yamada Heiando Imperial workshop, a specialty lacquerware store appointed as purveyor to the Imperial Household Agency. Koizumi uses Asian Urushi lacquer, found in the sap of the Chinese lacquer tree, which is elevated with a sprinkling of gold dust (Make-e). This ultra-slim wristwatch comes in an ethical rose-gold case, which houses the 3.30mm LUC 96.17-L automatic movement, which can be observed  ticking away through an open caseback.

Good luck getting your hands on this eight-piece Breguet wristwatch. Last year marked the 220th anniversary of the tourbillon, one of watchmaking's greatest complications, which also happened to be championed by Breguet's founder Abraham-Louis Breguet. For the brand's first release of 2022, Breguet has ditched the tourbillon (temporarily, we're sure…) for an extra-thin self-winding movement that measures just 2.4mm thick. Blued steel hands tick across the hand-engraved dial, which sits within a sizeable 40mm rose-gold case.
