Mary Wong, the founder of Haven Design, has designed a sophisticated 1,800 square foot home in Robinson Road, Mid-Levels, that marries a rich variety of colours with surprising accents.

This marks the fourth residence brought to life by Haven Design for the family.

"We designed their previous apartment over 10 years ago. It is such an amazing feeling to do something we love and, at the same time, be highly appreciated and trusted by our clients," Wong shares. "The trust between designer and client was the key to the success of this amazing project."

The homeowners, a retired couple, selected this property for their new residence because of its prime location, offering convenient access to the city, a spacious layout, and the practicality of easily accommodating and entertaining family and friends.

Upon entering the apartment, one is greeted by beautiful arches and special Italian marble flooring that visually separates the living room from the entrance, radiating elegance and refinement.

The walls are painted in a delicate cream colour, with a subtle grey accent wall behind the TV adding depth to the space. Detailed mouldings and a stunning circular crystal chandelier grace the ceiling, imparting a soft and graceful touch that enhances the warmth and beauty of the luxurious home.

Every corner is intricately designed and meticulously planned. "Rather than an extravagant design, we have created a residence that embodies a sense of understated luxury," Wong explains. "We have also integrated a smart home system for easy control of lighting and curtains, enhancing daily convenience."

In the living room, Wong carefully selected a custom carpet that seamlessly blends with the floor, creating a sense of flow and unity within the space. The plush and soft texture of the carpet invites relaxation and comfort, adding a layer of cosiness to the room.

The focal point of the living area is a contemporary two-piece glass coffee table, exuding modern elegance. An integrated bar area was included, designed to function as a cabinet for everyday use, and easily opened up for entertaining guests and hosting gatherings.

Curves dominate the dining area, highlighted by bauble-shaped light pendants dangling from a concave circle in the ceiling. A round Chinese-style dining table complements this design, enhancing the space with its unique and sophisticated appeal.

Transitioning from the living room to the bedroom reveals a striking feature wall adorned with a vibrant blue pattern in the hallway. This intricately designed wall serves as a focal point, injecting a pop of colour and visual interest into the space, infusing it with a lively and dynamic ambiance.

Within the bedroom, a stunning rose copper pendant lamp and a wall constructed of ash burl wood veneer, laser cut and assembled to create a luxurious and warm atmosphere. The intricate design of the wood pieces adds elegance, while the lamp provides visual interest. The combination of textures and materials adds depth, making the room a cosy and inviting retreat.

Moving onto the bathroom, the addition of a his-and-hers bathroom sink provides convenience for the couple to comfortably share the space without feeling crowded. The Grohe Essence rose gold basin mixer and shower column enhance the elegance of the master bathroom. For added senior-friendliness, features such as a shower seat, safety rail, floor heating, and a Toto toilet have also been included.

Embracing the traditional Chinese family tradition of playing mahjong in gatherings, Wong designed a comfortable multifunctional guest room that also functions as a guest room. Adorned with plush burnt orange fabric on the walls, the room exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for gatherings and games.

The powder room exudes elegance with its walls adorned in lace-patterned tiles. The detailed design brings a delicate touch to the space, elevating the overall sense of luxury and sophistication. The Gessi basin and basin mixer in a bronze/gold finish further enhances the opulent ambiance of the room.

Overall, the home's interior design features a rich palette of colours complemented by striking accents. Premium materials such as Italian marble, colourful veneers, textured tiles, rose gold fixtures, Italian texture paint, and more, are seamlessly integrated into the design scheme.

For the wooden elements, Finland-engineered wood flooring, and exquisite Italian Tabu veneers, including special features for the bed headboard and entrance cabinet, have been prominently used.

Each room in the residence tells a story, reflecting the homeowner's lifestyle and taste, creating a home that is not only beautiful, but also functional and welcoming. It is a space where memories are made and life is truly lived to the fullest.
