Regardless of income, racially and ethnically minoritized groups are the people most exposed to pollutants across the United States, reported Medical News Today on Wednesday.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- The ethnic minority groups in the United States are exposed to more air pollution than are white Americans, reported Medical News Today, a web-based outlet for medical information, on Wednesday.
The report cited a new study published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, saying the research has found for the first time that regardless of income, racially and ethnically minoritized groups are the people most exposed to pollutants across the United States.
The study also linked air pollution to respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, cancer, cognitive decline, and other conditions, as well as adverse birth outcomes.■
