Pro-Beijing groups in Hong Kong had called on people to clear out anti-government art installations in the city known as "Lennon Walls."
These clearances became flashpoints as the pro-democracy protesters and their supporters came out to defend the walls.
Bitter clashes between rival groups took place over the weekend in the Amoy Plaza mall in Kowloon City, illustrating the polarization of Hong Kong society as unrest triggered by an unpopular extradition bill entered its 15th straight week.
