Huawei is on a new media charm offensive this week, this time with its own news channel. The top story of the first episode? Huawei is still in business, says Huawei News.

The news channel is set to regularly publish episodes throughout the year, including product releases, news and comments from both executives and third parties, according to the company.

Huawei has been beefing up its public relations in response to Washington's accusations of spying and lobbying its allies to drop Huawei from its 5G mobile networks. According to their New Year's message to employees, it will be a tough 2020 for the telecommunications equipment maker.

During the last year, the company has been inviting reporters to their Shenzhen headquarters and approaching senior journalists to lead their public relations, according to Reuters. Along with a stronger social media presence, Huawei launched a website called Huawei Facts. Even Ren hasn't been spared. By his own admission, much of his job right now is less about running Huawei and more about media interviews.
