新型冠狀病毒疫情持續，香港巴塞爾藝術展（Art Basel HK）早前宣佈取消。對此，安全口畫廊、Para Site 等本地參展機構向《立場新聞》表示支持及體諒。然而 Para Site 特別提到，Art Basel HK 取消的其中一個原因，是早在武漢肺炎爆發前，已有多家國際畫廊向主辦方發信，指有藝術家因中國政治審查「不符合他們的核心價值」，不欲在港展出作品，要求減免 50％ 租金。Para Site 批評這些國際畫廊「無知、傲慢以及犬儒」。他們認為，反政府示威帶來的政治覺醒，會讓香港藝術圈產生改變。
安全口畫廊（Gallery EXIT）總監陶心書向《立場新聞》表示，雖然今年取消 Art Basel HK 十分可惜，但由於這是主辦方為公眾健康及疫情控制作出的決定，他們對此表示支持及體諒。他指出，Art Basel HK 是香港及亞洲重要的藝術平台，每年三月展期雲集各國藝術愛好者、專才及藏家。藝博會及其他展覽活動的取消，導致部份藝術家因此未能向這些國際藝術界人士展示作品，他認為這是「最可惜」的地方。
近月許多藝文活動均因武漢肺炎疫情宣布取消，陶心書慨嘆短期內海外藏家及觀眾或不能近距離接觸藝術品，親身了解藝術家的創作。
國際畫廊稱香港藝術審查不符核心價值 Para Site﹕無知、傲慢、犬儒
位於鰂魚涌的 Para Site 藝術空間亦對 Art Basel 取消一事表示理解，體諒主辦方一直受到不少壓力。早在武漢肺炎疫情爆發前，已有 24 家國際畫廊向主辦方發信，指有藝術家因中國政治審查「不符合他們的核心價值」，不欲在港展出作品，要求主辦方減免 50％ 租金。對於這些國際畫廊的做法，Para Site 感到「驚訝」。Para Site 指，當非常關注並維護香港言論自由的本地藝術界人士都沒杯葛在港舉行展覽，有關國際畫廊的要求，顯得「無知、傲慢以及犬儒」（ignorant, patronising, and hypocritical），並對香港現況嚴重誤解。
這種批評聲音並非 Para Site 獨有﹕本地藝術收藏家羅揚傑（Alan Lo）接受《artnet news》訪問時，亦曾回應國際畫廊要求減租一事，指「歐洲及美國畫廊已壓榨亞洲收藏家很多年，而現在他們已等不及在我們的傷口上灑鹽」。他強調，香港是個長遠的主張，不只是一時的狂熱，若有人只想要來賺快錢，「我建議他們不要再回來」。

it is essential for us however to point out that part of that pressure came from a letter that 24 western galleries sent to Art Basel in mid-January, demanding discounts for their booths in which they claimed—but didn’t specify—that certain of their artists were refusing to show in Hong Kong due to concerns about freedom of expression in the city. As these galleries work with some of the most important contemporary artists, we are shocked by this position and we think that—in the absence of any call for a boycott of showing in Hong Kong by the many local actors concerned precisely with maintaining the city’s freedom of expression— it is ignorant, patronising, and hypocritical and seemingly based on a serious misunderstanding about the situation in Hong Kong and what would actually be helpful for the city’s art scene in the wake of the anti-government protests.
儘管疫情嚴重、Art Basel 取消，但Para Site 及安全口畫廊均計劃繼續原來展覽計畫，於三月會分別舉辦《Garden of Six Seasons》及周俊輝個展《背影》。
