NEW DELHI, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The death toll in Saturday's fire in India's western state of Gujarat has risen to 28 from 24, a local fire department official said on Sunday.
Among the dead were at least nine children. The fire occurred at an entertainment park named TRP Game Zone in the state's Rajkot district.
The cause of the fire was not disclosed officially yet, though it was suspected that some welding works inside the entertainment park or a short circuit might have led to the fire.
Thereafter, a large stock of diesel kept for fueling different gaming machines further led to the tragedy.
Following the mishap, the owners of the TRP Game Zone were arrested.
According to media reports, the entertainment park was made of temporary structures and not enough care was taken to store the inflammable materials. The state government formed a special investigation team to carry out a probe.■
