BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese wildcard player Buyunchaokete stunned fourth-seeded Andrey Rublev of Russia in straight sets to reach the men's singles semifinals at the China Open here on Monday.
The 22-year-old Buyunchaokete continued to make history in the event by winning the first set 7-5, and he demonstrated an even better performance in the second set to seal the win 6-4.
"Rublev played two matches today, which is a tough schedule for him. Thanks to the fans, I can finally take the win," Buyunchaokete said after the game, who will match up with world No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy to compete for a final berth.
"I can't wait to challenge him," Buyunchaokete added. ■
