Udatsu Sushi is set to make its debut at FWD HOUSE 1881 in Tsim Sha Tsui, making it the Michelin-starred Tokyo institution's first international outpost.
Upon entering, guests will be seated at an elegant 12-seat Yoshino cypress counter, a stunning centrepiece that adds to the refined atmosphere of FWD HOUSE 1881. This innovative sushi destination offers a refreshing departure from traditional sushi dining experiences. The new Hong Kong restaurant will bring an exquisite selection of Japanese sake, tantalising agave drinks, and world-class sushi.
The concrete walls of the venue feature a curated collection of contemporary art, exuding an upscale gallery vibe. Udatsu Sushi will host rotating exhibitions from artists hailing from Japan, Hong Kong and beyond. Renowned artist Hiroshi Sugimoto will be the first featured.
Chef-owner Hisashi Udatsu brings a unique culinary vision that blends art and sushi. His skills have been refined through years of training and managing his acclaimed restaurant. His world-class techniques are paired with a modern hospitality approach, setting him apart.
As Chef Udatsu shares, "I want people to use their five senses to enjoy sushi. Eating and drinking something delicious is the base, but people should enjoy the whole experience including the service, conversation, atmosphere, art and music."
Udatsu Sushi promises an experience rooted in Chef Udatsu's passion for art in all its forms. "My modest neighbourhood restaurant in the residential backstreets of Nakameguro combines the finest ingredients with an atmosphere steeped in art and warm hospitality. I aim to bring this same philosophy to Udatsu Sushi Hong Kong, where art delights the palate."
Udatsu Sushi is slated to open in early August 2024, offering both lunch and dinner services.
