BEIJING, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines from the past week:

1. Chefs de mission seminar held to update Hangzhou Asian Games preparations

A three-day chefs de mission seminar opened in Hangzhou on Tuesday, with 45 delegation chiefs of National Olympic Committees (NOCs) in Asia assembling to learn the latest updates on the Hangzhou Asian Games preparations.

During their stay in Hangzhou, the delegation chiefs visited competition and non-competition venues of the Games and attended a series of cultural activities to have a better understanding of the host city.

2. China's Si reaches semifinals at Snooker World Championship

China's debutant Si Jiahui edged out Anthony McGill 13-12 to reach the semifinals at the Snooker World Championship in Sheffield on Wednesday.

Si, 20, grabbed his chance to play at the Crucible Theatre for the first time after winning three matches in the qualifiers. The world No. 80 then saw off 2005 champion Shaun Murphy and veteran Robert Milkins to advance into the quarterfinals.

The victory over McGill made him the youngest Crucible semifinalist since Ronnie O'Sullivan in 1996.

Si led Luca Brecel with 14-10 in the semifinals as of Friday.

3. Wang Chuqin, Wang Manyu crowned again at WTT Champions Macao

China's Wang Chuqin and Wang Manyu were crowned again in the men's and women's singles respectively at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Macao on Sunday.

In the men's singles final, 22-year-old Wang Chuqin defended his title after closing out a dominant 4-0 win over double Olympic gold medalist Ma Long 12-10, 11-1, 11-8, 11-7.

In the women's singles final, second seed Wang Manyu lifted the second WTT Champions trophy after fighting from behind to defeat Olympic champion Chen Meng 11-13, 11-7, 8-11, 12-10, 11-9, 11-8.

4. Zhejiang Lions edges defending champions Liaoning to tie CBA semifinals

The Zhejiang Lions overcame the Liaoning Flying Leopards 99-94 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) semifinals on Friday to tie the best-of-five series 1-1.

Zhejiang's Sun Minghui scored 27 points with seven 3-pointers while Dez Wells had a game-high 28 points.

Zhejiang will take on Liaoning for Game 3 of the semifinals at home next Monday.

In the other semifinal, the Shenzhen Aviators also tied the series 1-1 after a 103-92 victory over Zhejiang Golden Bulls on Thursday.

5. Zhang Zhizhen reaches Madrid Open second round

China's Zhang Zhizhen qualified for the second round at the Madrid Open, earning a 7-6 (6), 6-4 victory over Jurij Rodionov of Austria in a match that lasted one hour and 30 minutes.

This was the first ATP Masters 1000 main draw victory for the 26-year-old, who also became the first male player from the Chinese mainland to win an ATP tour match on clay.

His compatriots Zheng Qinwen and Wang Xiyu both advanced into the women's singles third round after defeating Caty Mcnally of the United States and Bianca Andreescu of Canada respectively.■
