QUZHOU, China, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- China's promising javelin star Yan Ziyi renewed her own world U20 record as she claimed the title at the National Athletics Championships here on Saturday night.

The 16-year-old achieved 64.41 meters from her second attempt to seal the victory, adding 13 centimeters to the previous world U20 record she registered five months ago in Hangzhou.

According to her coach Lu Xiuling, Yan has trained in javelin for just three years, and it has been her first season to take part in senior competitions of national level.

Two weeks ago, Yan dominated the javelin event at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru, taking the gold medal with a margin of nearly nine meters. ■
