Asia Album: Banana market in India's Assam

ASSAM, India, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Goalpara district of India's northeastern state of Assam lies on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra river and boasts one of the largest banana retail hubs in Asia.

During the peak season, bananas are carefully picked while they are still green and loaded into trucks by local farmers before being offered to banana lovers.
