Domestic comedy "Successor" continues to lead Chinese mainland daily box office

BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese comedy "Successor" continued to top the daily box office chart on the Chinese mainland with a daily earning of 146.95 million yuan (about 20.61 million U.S. dollars) on Friday, data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed.

Starring comedy stars Shen Teng and Ma Li and directed by Yan Fei and Peng Damo, the film tells the story of a wealthy couple who deliberately fakes a challenging environment for their son in order to foster his personal growth.

Japanese anime film "Your Name" stood second, raking in 37.90 million yuan on its 1st day of re-release.

Crime thriller "A Place Called Silence" came up third with 28.08 million yuan of box office sales.

The total box office revenue of the Chinese mainland on Friday stood at about 241.65 million yuan. ■
