SHENYANG, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- China's indigenously-developed autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) "Tansuo 4500" has completed investigation in high-latitude Arctic ice areas in the national 12th Arctic scientific expedition which was concluded recently.
The AUV was mainly developed by the Shenyang Institute of Automation under the Chinese Academy of Sciences in northeast China's Liaoning Province.
The successful application of the AUV has collected important data which is expected to deepen the acknowledge of the substance and energy exchange and geological process in the Arctic Mid-Ocean Ridge.
Moreover, it will also contribute to China's in-depth participation in protecting the environment of the Arctic. (Xinhua/Yang Qing, Wang Ying, Li Heng, Luo Qi)
