BEIJING, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- A small mechanical arm mounted on China's Wentian lab module has passed an on-orbit test.
The small mechanical arm is quite flexible and can perform operations with greater precision.
It can help the Shenzhou-14 crew to carry out extravehicular activities.
The small arm can also be held with the large one to form a combined arm that is capable of performing extravehicular operations with better accuracy at a larger range.
Wentian is the first lab module of China's space station.
The module will function both as a backup of the core module and as a powerful scientific experiment platform.
