Today on Squarefoot, we explore an award-winning home in Ansaldo, a new development in Shouson Hill, a serene, leafy enclave overlooking Deep Water Bay, one of Hong Kong’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
The ‘Art Collector’ house spans 4,004 square feet with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It boasts a 1,795 sqft private garden with a pool, an 877 sqft rooftop terrace, and a 1,127 sqft private garage.
This one-of-a-kind show home won Best Showhome Design at Hong Kong’s 2023 Vogue Living Design Awards, and combines contemporary fine art with natural and Eastern aesthetics. Interior staging by LIMBONSAI and COLOURLIVING.
Designed by renowned architect William Lim, known for landmark projects like Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and H Queen’s in Hong Kong, the house’s exterior combines iron, glass, and stone, reflecting a seamless fusion of nature and modernity.
Upon entering, you’re greeted by Joshua Desert wallpaper, a statement piece by Lala Curio, setting the tone for the home’s East-meets-West design. The living area features soaring ceilings, full-height windows, and warm wooden floors, anchored by the iconic Camaleonda sofa from B&B Italia, with a handcrafted hanging rug from Portugal above it.
In the dining area, a table by Paola Lenti, made from solidified molten lava and volcanic stone tiles, takes centre stage. Overhead, a mobile chandelier, crafted from 200 mouth-blown glass components, adds elegance. Behind the dining area, a picture window frames the craggy outdoor landscape, blending indoor and outdoor living.
The private garden, a mix of modern design and nature, includes natural stone benches, a 16.8-meter swimming pool, and vibrant seating areas in hot pink and light blue. The garden also features an outdoor BBQ and 60 different plant species spread across the three villas.
The marble kitchen, with a G-shaped layout, overlooks the garden and is equipped with top-of-the-line appliances from Arclinea and Sub-Zero.
The ground floor powder room features nature-inspired walls and a minimalist shower with matte black fixtures, adding a modern touch.
On the second floor, the expansive master suite offers a king-size bed facing floor-to-ceiling windows, a walk-in closet, and unique art pieces. The master ensuite showcases full-height floral wall art, a standalone bathtub by Victoria + Albert, and a doorless shower in a clean, contemporary design.
Back on the first floor, the family room exudes cozy vibes with pieces from Italian brands, including another Camaleonda sofa and a Spun chair, winner of the 2014 ADI Compasso d'Oro Award. The two additional bedrooms on this floor are spacious, each with ensuite bathrooms.
The rooftop terrace offers views of the mountains, complemented by indigenous planters from South Africa and a handcrafted Ciclotte fitness bike from Italy.
Ansaldo’s three detached houses are offered for tender as a package, with a reserve price of HK$100 million.
