CHICAGO, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Ford Motor Co. reported on Thursday that it sold 149,938 vehicles in the United States in October this year, down 5.3 percent from 158,327 units sold in October 2022.

The decrease in sales was mainly a result of the United Auto Workers' (UAW) strike against the Big Three U.S. automakers.

To be specific, the Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker's sales of electric vehicles went up 9.1 percent; that of hybrid vehicles gained 37.9 percent, a new monthly record; and that of internal combustion engine vehicles dropped 8.8 percent.

Ford reached a tentative agreement with the UAW on a new four-and-a-half year contract on Oct. 25, ending the UAW's 41-day strike against the company. The automaker said the strike resulted in a 1.3-billion-U.S. dollar loss in earnings. ■
