The prolonged civil conflict in Sudan has plunged 17.7 million people into acute hunger, and urgent and collective actions are required to avert a humanitarian catastrophe in the North African nation, said AbdulHakim Elwaer, a senior official from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization.
