KALPA Galleries is showcasing a curated collection of art at the Pavilion, a beautiful modernist building designed by Vincent Van Duysen in the Molteni&C Compound in Giussano (Brianza).

This exclusive exhibit, called PERENNI, features artworks by Yoshimi Futamura, Federico Gori, and Marc Ricourt. Their ceramic sculptures, copper engravings, and wooden vessels have been integrated into the Pavilion's architecture, creating a stunning and contemplative experience. The exhibit can be visited by appointment until May 2024.

Throughout history, sacred places have gained their status partly due to their beauty. The PERENNI project merges art, craft and architecture, providing visitors with a transformative experience. The Pavilion has been intelligently designed to forge a seamless connection between the courtyard and the interior, enabling the works of Futamura, Gori, and Ricourt to imbue the space with the intricate essence of nature.

French wood-turner and Loewe Craft Prize finalist Marc Ricourt's sculptures are characterised by organic forms, deep colours, fluid lines, and nature-like textures. His mastery of technique, pronounced vessel edges, and the passionate strength emanating from his series set his work apart. The deliberate display of tool marks adds a rawness that contrasts with the precision required to create consistent cuts. As part of PERENNI, Ricourt showcases three wood sculptures from his renowned Scorched and Rust series, crafted from beech and walnut. The Pavilion's ample windows bathe these pieces in warm sunlight, adding a poetic touch. Ricourt's intentional manipulation of the wood in the Rust series, such as applying ferrous oxide, bestows the surface with the visual and tactile qualities reminiscent of materials like corten steel.

Yoshimi Futamura combines Eastern and Western artistic approaches in her artwork, inspired by Japanese ceramics. She presents two of her pieces, Black Hole and functional Vases, at the PERENNI exhibition. These artworks can be found throughout the exhibition, encouraging visitors to interact with and establish a profound connection with the tactile nature of the pieces.

Federico Gori, an Italian artist, explores themes of forms, materials, time, and humanity's relationship with nature. His integration of two artworks from the Perenne and Patterns series, created using etchings and natural oxidations on copper sheets, aligns with the core of his artistic vision. The wall installation Perenne 05 resembles a tree trunk's cross-section, while the second piece, Pattern 01, showcases a root's trace. Both artworks symbolise the hidden language of nature. Due to copper's malleability, it oxidises and transforms, enabling these artworks to continuously evolve and transcend space and time, making them living art pieces.
