KUNMING, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Six elephant calves were recently spotted among a herd of 18 Asian elephants in Pu'er City, southwest China's Yunnan Province.

Among the calves, the oldest is about four years old and the youngest is only one year old.

Asian elephants, a pivotal species in the rainforest ecosystem, are under first-class national protection in China. The elephants are mostly found across Yunnan.
