Amidst the bustling cityscape of Hong Kong's Mid-Levels, A.G Interiors transformed an ordinary flat into an enchanting, sustainable haven for a family.

The home's open plan layout boasts four spacious bedrooms and exceptional built-in storage. The client desired a tranquil and comfortable space with a sophisticated feel for hosting guests. The colonial-style building's architecture, including the large balconies, high ceilings and abundance of natural light, inspired A.G Interiors' founder Anna Göransson's approach to achieving a contemporary boho feel with colonial accents.

Göransson's shared passion for sustainability with the client made the project unique and thrilling. Mindful of preserving existing pieces, she worked with the clients to plan the functional and aesthetic aspects of the makeover. Göransson reflected that by consciously incorporating second-hand furniture pieces to complement existing ones, we sometimes realise that furniture or decor we’ve grown tired of might just need repositioning to give it new life.

The family's colourful artwork by different artists from their travels across Southern Europe adds colour and personality when set against the natural tone of the furniture and decorations.

The client's entrepreneurial business inspired the transformation of one bedroom into a guest room/office space, reflecting her brand's natural and organic colours.

Guided by the Scandinavian principles of lagom, which promote balance in all aspects of life, Göransson infuses her work with a deep-rooted love for tropical elements.

This philosphy is evident in the carefully curated balcony that creates a seamless transition from indoors to out, showcasing a natural vibe with a plethora of greenery intertwined with earthy tones. The result is a harmonious blend that provides an idyllic setting to enjoy basking in the warmth of the sun while sipping on a steaming cup of coffee.

The breakfast nook was designed to accommodate the family's social needs, As the kids often bring friends over for playdates and meals, a social round table paired with benches and movable rattan pouffes were placed for maximised seating.

With vintage elements such the wooden side table on the balcony, Chinese wall lantern and bespoke dining chairs in the living room and durable, environmentally friendly rattan furniture, the home exudes a distinctive character that epitomises Göransson's belief in slow living and preservation through a mix of new, old, and vintage items.
