Starz Pasha turns a traditional financial office into a young and vibrant workspace in Kwun Tong.

Their client, GUM, is a boutique consulting firm in the Health and Wealth industry that has rebranded from its former brand Gain Miles (GM). The firm is also one of the many employers who have become more aware of the needs and well-being of their staff as the world is recovering steadily from the pandemic.

To improve the emotional and physical wellness of the staff as well as to enhance the client’s new corporate identity, Jay and Maggie, founders of Starz Pasha, created an agile and energetic work environment inspired by the firm’s philosophy of Give U More. It also showcased how an interior design can incorporate the business core value; facilitate virtual and face-to-face meetings; and enhance sustainability.

Entering the office, one will be greeted by the firm’s 3D logo composed of three large coins with backlit lighting. Different from traditional logo placement, the logo is anchored to the top of a bar table to create a lively and dynamic vibe. It also serves as a youthful and brilliant welcoming sign to all the guests and employees.

The extra-large bar table divides the entrance from the sitting area with a set of nine tailor-made light bulbs encompassing the words “give u more” hanging from the ceiling to lead one’s way into the main office area.

To respond to the virtual trends nowadays, pixelated design was the main concept to translate the office into a Metaverse-like space. Elements like coins and trees representing GUM’s core value of growth are used throughout the area. For example, the signage, ceiling light and locker handles were designed in the signature coin shape while a tree is planted at the centre of a circular work counter as an image of the company’s steady growth.

Different zones are designed in various purposes to cater for the needs of both online and in-person meetings. Apart from formal meeting rooms, employees can conduct small group meetings or video calls at the meeting booths with soundproof glass sliding doors; arrange short and casual meetings at sofas or bar tables; and make private calls in the phone booths.

A webinar room with soundproof walls and sound absorbers is specially designed for online programmes and podcasting.

Lighting is another important factor Jay and Maggie have taken into account during the design stage to promote an eco-friendly and sustainable work environment. The open-plan office with glass partitions can maximise natural daylight from three sides of large windows and minimise the use of artificial lighting.

Employees can enjoy a hybrid space at one of the corners with a sofa set and warm natural sunlight for brainstorming and short conversations. The homely and casual atmosphere makes the space more enjoyable and hence increase creativity and productivity. Moreover, height adjustable tables, gym bikes and water filtration system are also provided in concern of employees’ health.

With such a flexible, well-thought and multi-functional interior design, the office will easily capture both employees’ and customers’ heart.
